盛岡の郷土芸能　『盛岡さんさ踊り』

「さんさ踊りは藩政時代から受け継がれた踊りで、その起源は「三ツ石伝説」に由来し、今ではすっかり盛岡の夏のメインイベントとして市民の中に定着しました。市内のあちらこちらで「ドンドン、ドン」と練習の太鼓が鳴り響くようになると、祭りが近づいた合図。町内、職場、学校と様々な団体が参加して、３日間で踊り手の数は２万２千人を超え、太鼓は日本一の１万２千個、笛は２千人で参加者総数は３万６千人を数えます。市内の目抜き通りを揃いの浴衣姿の群舞が続々と繰り出す様は、まさに迫力満点。観客が自由に参加できる輪踊りもあります。日中は市民文化ホールで行われる伝統さんさ競演会が人気です。 」
